Years ago, there was an old tale in the Marine Corps about a lieutenant who inspected his Marines and told the ‘Gunny’ that they smelled bad. The lieutenant suggested that they change their underwear. The ‘Gunny’ responded, ‘Aye, aye, sir. I’ll see to it immediately.’
He went into the tent and said, ‘The lieutenant thinks you guys smell bad, and he wants you to change your underwear. Smith, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowskie, Brown, you change with Schultz …’ ‘Change, now get on with it’
A candidate may promise change in Washington but the stink remains.

Here’s a challenge for you folks. Granted there are websites such as this one on both the conservative and liberal sides. The thing that gets me (in comparison) is the sheer numbers of these critical, negative, name calling, disrespectful, arrogant, hateful, “I’m better than you” type sites like this on the conservative side. You simply need to “google” the candidate’s (or their spouse’s) last name to see the difference between the two. There’s something wrong with the conservative spirit that gives off a really negative vibe towards everyone.
Can you guys for once talk about the issues and merit of your preferred candidate rather than attack and bash the opposition’s personal values and make disrespectful comments?
You say you’re Americans and support American ideals and democracy yet bad mouth and disrespect the elected officials that represent it. It’s like listening to a bunch of little kids who have nothing of value to add to the conversation, so you call the other kid “stupid head”.
I’m a recently retired Marine and Iraq War veteran. I’ve served in the military longer than I haven’t. It deeply saddens and disturbs me that I spent all of my adult life serving my country to protect the rights of people who do this (te likes of this website)with them. People of other countries are watching us to see the true value of democracy, and this is the example we choose to set. Whether coming from a conservative or liberal, I’m sick of this crap. Both McCain and Obama deserve much more respect and reverance as people who got off their fat arses to lead. Give them the respect they’ve clearly earned.
How can anyone consider voting for a candidate who doesn’t know the english language sufficiently to know better than to end his slogan in a preposition?
“Change in which you can believe” doesn’t have the same ring to it. Besides, McCain is using the slogan, “A leader you can believe in”. So he’s got the same preposition issues as Obama.
Most Harvard Law School graduates are pretty proficient with the english language. Only a stupidhead would withhold a vote over a dangling preposition.
In an interview with CNN, Obama recently said that he would consult U.S. Military leadership about the war in Iraq and fighting in Afghanistan. “But ultimately, the buck stops with me”, Obama said.
Is this guy for real? The leadership of our U.S. service men and women should dictate what is necessary to be successful in ensuring the safety of the U.S. For all of Obama’s talk about the worsening of situations since the Surge, the U.S. is safer for it.
Obama repeatedly says that a withdrawal from Iraq needs to happen within a specified amount of time. Again one of his main staples for change. There is no way to accurately predict the outcome of withdrawal.
Iraq has become a modern day Vietnam without a doubt. It is a situation where the U.S. is fighting an enemy of troops from all surrounding Countries. In Iraq, it is Iran, Syria and others. In Vietnam it was Cambodia, Laos, China and others.
I suppose if history repeats itself, we withdraw; Iraq wises up after a couple of decades and realizes it has to play in the world economy. The problem with this approach is oil!
Iraq would go through a civil war. Iran would certainly get into the mix given the oil in Iraq. Best case the Iraq government chooses to defend itself and appeals to the United Nations to assist in its defense. Then where are we? We would be right back in the same position since the U.S. Military is the U.N.’s solution to every major conflict. The only difference is that we will have given up strongholds, lost current intelligence and allowed far more terrorists to enter Iraq. How will this be any better for our troops? Our economy? Our perception throughout the world?
If Obama cannot see the aforementioned situation happening post withdrawal, then he is a fool. Whether he is for an immediate withdrawal or as he says, a withdrawal of combat troops within 16 months “while leaving a residual force to engage in counterterrorism activities”, he has not thought this through.
If the U.S. and George Bush are to blame for the situation in Iraq, then the world community will hold the U.S. accountable for the outcome of withdrawal, regardless of who is President.

WHEN HE GETS THE WEALTHY PEOPLES MONEY AND GETS RID OF THE WEALTHY, THEN HE HAS TO COME AFTER THE MIDDLE CLASS. WHEN HE HAS TAKEN ALL THEIR MONEY AND GOTTEN RID OF THE MIDDLE CLASS, THEN HE HAS TO COME AFTER THE POOR. WHEN WE ALL HAVE NOTHING AND HAVE TO DEPEND ON THE GOVERNMENT FOR ANY KIND OF PITTANCE, THAT DEAR PEOPLE IS CALLED SOCIALISM AND IT HAS NEVER WORKED. ANYONE WHO THINKS THIS IS A GOOD IDEA, PUT YOUR HEAD IN A RUBBERBAND AND SNAP OUT OF IT.
